Mrs Pam Fitzpatrick

Hi my name is Pam Fitzpatrick and I am a fully qualified and professional psychotherapist in the branch of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  At the core of my work is warmth, empathy, and helping people feel fully supported throughout their individual therapy process.

I am experienced in working with the following difficulties: chronic anxiety and depression disorders including social anxiety, panic attacks, generalised anxiety, OCD, pure obsessional thoughts, PTSD, and all types of depression and stress related issues.

In addition to working with these difficulties, I am also a CBT specialist who is very passionate in supporting people with chronic fatigue and chronic pain conditions such as CFS/M.E, Fatigue, Vestibular Dysfunctions, and Chronic Pain Conditions such as Fibromyalgia and Migraine.  I have very specialised training in rehabilitation strategies that are proven to be very effective for the management of these types of chronic health conditions.

More generally, counselling is designed to help you explore the things in life that have, or are currently causing you distress in your life.  There is no issue too big or too small and I offer a very safe, confidential, and warm environment to explore these current difficulties.

Generally we will start with an initial assessment session that lasts around 80 minutes where we gain a deeper understanding of the issues and difficulties that you are currently experiencing.  We will then look at your therapy goals which might look at coping and management of your current difficulties. We will also explore the potential for your recovery, and during this session I will also fully explain Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and how I would plan to support you moving forward.

After this initial assessment session, we will normally meet weekly and agree a number of sessions that would be required to help you reach your therapy goals or recovery.

If you would like to call me for a chat about the potential for therapy you can contact me on 07960552669.  Please leave me a message if required, and I will return your call as soon as I can.  Alternatively you can email me on or if you enquiry is of an urgent nature and would like to book an initial appointment ASAP, then you can call Cyncoed Consulting Rooms and book directly in to my Wednesday clinic on 029 2076 4611.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 7- Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Certification in Graded Exercise Therapy for the Management of Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Pain

  • Registered member of BACME (British Association for CFS/M.E)

I am a full and registered member of the BACP and their ethical guidelines are intrinsic to my therapy work. I am vastly experienced, and continuously stay updated with the latest advances in therapeutic practice.

Jane Abbott

Jane Abbott BA(Hons) PGCE Dip Therapeutic Counselling MBACP

I work specifically with older children, young people and young adults. I have over 12 years experience of working as a counsellor with young people in secondary schools and higher education. Prior to qualifying as a counsellor I taught art in secondary schools and further education.

I call myself an Integrative Counsellor and my practice is informed by different counselling approaches. I believe that one of most important aspects of counselling is the relationship between the counsellor and client. In order to establish and develop that relationship, I try to be non-judgemental, empathic and genuine. I aim to see the client’s feelings, circumstances and issues from their point of view and feel it is extremely important to carefully listen to the young person. I have found that we rarely listen to one another and the affirmation of having been listened to cannot be underestimated. I work collaboratively with whatever the client wishes to talk about. I try to help the client gain an understanding of their feelings, the reasons they came to see me and explore possible ways forward.

I appreciate that not all young people find it easy to express themselves using words and I believe in working flexibly to meet the needs of my clients. I have a degree in Fine Art and believe that creative forms of communication such as drawing, music, writing, photography can help people to express their feelings.

I am a registered member of the BACP and a member of the BACP Children, Young People and Families Division. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I regularly attend supervision and Continuing Professional Development events and training. Before committing to a counselling session I am happy to offer a half hours telephone consultation to discuss your child’s and your needs. For further information please see my website Contact:

Doroteha Read

Dorothea Read

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

Modern hypnotherapy utilises some of the clinically proven techniques of CBT and Solution Focused Brief Therapy and combines them with a state of trance to help people make significant positive changes within a relatively short period of time. The profound state of relaxation and solution-focused awareness provides a context for new insights and understandings to be formed. Resolving unwelcome habits and thought patterns means hypnotherapy gives us the ability to cope in difficult situations in a calm and effective way.
STRESS AND ANXIETY are common in today's world and they affect our quality of life. They can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion. Hypnotherapy can enable you to control anxiety levels in a calm and confident way.
FEARS AND PHOBIAS may be associated with a traumatic memory or triggered during a phase of high anxiety. Our minds then make a link between the high anxiety and the object (lifts, planes, needles etc.), and this can lead to extremely debilitating and restricting habits and thoughts. Using specific techniques, hypnotherapy can help to remove the emotion from the experience, helping you to become indifferent to the object, so you are much less affected in the future.
ANTICIPATORY NAUSEA ASSOCIATED WITH CHEMOTHERAPY is a distressing and common side effect of cancer treatment. Contact me for more details.
CHILDBITH AND PREGNANCY. Sometimes called hypnobirthing. A lovely relaxed way of staying focused, calm and confident.
Hypnotherapy is also helpful for many other conditions:
and many more. Please feel free to email me or phone me for advice or further information.
£35 for Initial Consultation (45-60mins) including free relaxation CD.

£60 per daytime session (50-60mins)

Colette Hart

Hi, I’m Colette a Psychotherapist specialising in  treating post traumatic stress disorder and trauma. I offer compassion and understanding to those experiencing anxiety, stress or PTSD from any traumatic incident, including sexual, physical and psychological abuse and  bereavement. I also specialise in working with those who are living with a diagnosis of cancer, and have a particular interest in supporting patients who have experienced medical trauma.

Medical trauma is unique in that it is often misunderstood as a trauma in its own right and categorised as a general anxiety or post traumatic stress disorder. Both these conditions as well as other symptoms may be connected, but medical trauma focuses on understanding the nature and effects of trauma stemming from a chronic life changing illness, a life threatening diagnosis, or a routine operation that has that has impacted on you in a negative way leaving a fear of a hospital environment. Anything medically related that causes an unwelcome change in circumstances and quality of life can make us feel depressed, anxious, isolated and frightened, as we struggle to adjust. A specialist service offering emotional support at a time when we are at our most vulnerable can offer enormous relief and help us to cope better.

Personal and professional experience of medical trauma has instilled a passion and dedication in me to help those who have been similarly affected. As an integrative therapist I work with a variety of models tailor made to suit you and your unique situation, utilising visual and creative techniques, cognitive adjustment, and your ways of relating, to others, to your past and to the present. At all times I offer you empathy and compassion and our work is always collaborative, ensuring you have a safe space in which to explore your trauma, which can be challenging as well as liberating, but ultimately helps you gain control back in your life.

I work both as a Relational Integrative Therapist & Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and have experience in working with medical trauma, male & female sexual abuse and sexualised trauma, physical and psychological trauma, male & female rape, suicidal thoughts & suicide ideation, feelings of guilt, shame and blame, panic & anxiety attacks, bereavement and loss and coping with sudden child bereavement. I am currently working within the Cardiff & Vale health board addressing issues of complex trauma and post traumatic stress disorder. (PTSD), and am also working within Breast Cancer Care Cardiff, offering support to patients who have received a primary or secondary breast cancer diagnosis.

I am a registered member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), a member of BACP Health Care, and a member of 'MIND'.

'Initial exploratory sessions are 90 minutes and priced at £85. Subsequent sessions are £60 and are 60 minutes in length. The number of sessions required depends entirely on your individual needs, and your initial assessment together with regular mutual feedback means you can budget accordingly. It is suggested that meetings are weekly or fortnightly. Appointments are booked directly with me and payment can be made to the Consulting Rooms at the time of your appointment.

Please feel free to browse through my website at for more information, and you are welcome to contact me directly with any queries. You may book an appointment on 07903 457205, or e-mail

I look forward to meeting you and sharing your experience.....
